That's what the dermatologist who I saw today told me.

I was investigating IPL for evening out my complexion more and getting rid of the tiniest of broken capillaries that remain. He asked me what skin care products I was using and I told him, including Differin. He asked me "what Differin was". I was kind of dumbfounded and told him it was a synthetic retinoid. He then told me he has "never heard of a synthetic retinoid" and that "the only retinols he has heard of are Retin-A" (note he used the word "retinols" as opposed to retinoids).

I wasn't the slightest bit impressed with his lack of knowledge and told him as politely as possible that I wouldn't be going ahead with the treatment as I found it hard to have any confidence in a professional who doesn't know anything about a subject as basic as retinoids.

So, I am unreasonable!
