Dr. Baumann,
I learned about you from the Fall issue of Blueprint Magazine. I am 54 years old, a nurse, and Scandinavian heritage....very fair skin!! I also live in Colorado and love the outdoor life which has taken quite a toll on my skin.
The past two years I have noticed an increase in central facial redness and sensitivity and even Cetaphil lotion was irritating my skin. I chalked it up to the "feeze/thaw effect of riding up ski lifts in the bright sun"; my skin actually is sensitive even to touch. Sometimes the cold is so painful that I would joke and say,"Look pretty girls because our faces are going to freeze like this." Actually, this is true and it set me up for Rosacea. After reading your book and trying some of your suggestions I decided to go back to my dermatologist for a check up (hadn't been in two years). She said, "absolutely Rosacea." So, tomorrow I start a series of VBeam Laser treatments. She approved of my skin care routine, which I learned from your book: Tolerane Dermocleanser, Eucerin Soothing Cleanser, Rosaliac Moisturizer,Atopalm. She has added Fallene Total Block SPF65 and Neutrogena Age Block SPF 45 as my daily sunscreen.
Next I'll try the Jane Iredale cosmetics. So far, I like the Philosophy mineral foundation except the natural color is almost too yellow for me.
Thanks so much for all your help! I'll pass the word. I know two women who have had melanoma and one of my fair skinned ski girlfriends is breaking out in basal cell lesions. I feel lucky that so far I'm cancer free...xxx.
