Up until a few years ago I was a definite OSPW. Very OILY. Then my skin began to change. Climate, age, cholesterol meds are all I factor I know.

When I got the book a month ago my skin was definitely dry and even patches of eczema. Took the test and came out DSPW. I've been following that regime. But, weather was turned humid (monsoon season). Skin has turned oily again.

Problem: if I follow DSPW my skin gets too oily. But if I follow OSPW it gets too dry.

Which am I? And any suggestion PLEASE!!!

Judy,

I would suggest doing the oily/dry skin test -- where you cleanse your face and don't do anything else to it. Look at your skin closely in a mirror 2-3 hours later and see how your skin has reacted. The sensation that makes you feel like you are oily might just be a feeling of the extra moisture -- not necessarily oil. If you are agressively treating for oil, you may be stimulating your skin to produce more oil. Hope this helps. Inky

I've done the skin test waiting 3 hrs after washing a few times. On days where my skin is dry it feels tight. On days where it's oily it has a definite sheen.

It's like I'm 2 different people.

Oh, well.

Thanks.

Judy, I'm wondering if it might be helpful to compare the recommended products under both the DSPW and OSPW skin types and find the ones that are more common to both skin types and give those a try.  I think, for example, there are La Roche-Possay and Aveeno cleansers and moisturizers recommended for both types -- maybe choose one that seems a little more "middle ground" to use.  Also, even though the La Roche-Possay Thermal Water is recommended for DSPW (and not OSPW), I find it very good for my extremely oily skin, as well.  So using that should be a good thing, regardless of whether you're feeling more oily or dry.  I don't know if this helps much or not, but I think it's what I'd begin to try if it were me...
