Hi all,

Over the weekend, I got a bad patch of rashes on my thigh after some really stressful days, and my doctor said it was eczema, after looking at it and asking me some questions about my family history and the history of my own skin. Stupid me finally realised that the recurring rashes that I have been getting over the years (since my early childhood) on various parts of my body is eczema, something I had heard about but never bothered to consider if it was happening to me till now. :-

I know this is a forum on facial skin but I'm just wondering if there are any eczema-sufferers out there to share their survival tips with me? The rashes almost always leave dark marks (just as described in the DSPT chapter in the book, except that the chapter was meant to help DSPT facual skin and I don't know what will help both prevent future rashes and get rid of dark marks (if ever there is anything like that for skin on the body).

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Hi Karen,

I am currently having a flare and discovered that I am highly sensitive to fragrance and detergents. I recently ordered some body wash from www.California Baby.com since it doesn't contain Sodium Laurel/Laureth Sulfate (detergents) or fragrance. I hope the product will work. Until then, I slather my skin with Cetaphil moisturizing cream while I am still damp from the shower. Next task will be trying to find laundry products! I truly sympathize with you. Hope things calm down soon. Inky

Karen, I get eczema and use a prescription cortisone cream when it flares up in a bad rash. I've never had it on my face, thank goodness. Right now I've started getting little dry patches on my skin that I think are also eczema, but I'm not sure. I've just been moisturizing them well.

Inky, you mentioned you were going to need to find laundry products. All Free Liquid detergent is very good. I think Dr. B. might mention it in the book. There are also fabric softeners that are "free" for sensitive skin.

I really like the Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent for Sensitive Skin. It is fragrance & dye free.
