Has any other OSPW experienced breakwouts when using Dr. Baumann's recommened Skin Effects Advance Brightening Complex or Purpose Redness Reducing Moisturizer SPF 30?
I have been using L'Oreal's Acne Response Treatment system which is the ONLY product that had completely cleared me up. I use Bare Minerals for foundation and blush. I started using the two products mentioned above a week ago and I broke out on my forehead, nose and chin.
I'm very oily (34).
Since I started both new prodcuts at the same time I'm not sure which one or if both are causing the breakouts.
I have had a very difficult time finding an SPF product that doesn't break out my face so I'm thinking that is the problem product.

Hi Lehua. It's hard to tell since you started both new products at the same time. I kind of did the same thing initially in my desire to overhaul my old routine and begin the new one.

If you are not sensitive to Avobenzone, check out the Hawaiian Tropic Oil Free Faces SPF 30. There are a lot of raves about it on Makeupalley.com.  Another fave of mine is the Neutrogena Dry Touch sunblock SPF 30. I used it when I was pregnant and I had no breakouts at all from it, and I was very oily during that time! They also have a newer one in SPF 55, but the 30 is not as greasy feeling. However, the spf 55 has the new "helioplex formula" whcih means the avobenzone is more stabliized so it doesn't break down as fast in sunlight. But as long as you reapply often this isn't a factor. The Hawaiian Tropic brand calls theirs "sunsure technology" which does the same thing. But again, frequent reapplication is key so this isn't a factor.

Also, two that I am using this summer are the Vichy Ultra Fluide and the La Roche Posay Dermo Peds Lait (this one's a bit heavy though, but doesn't make me break out at all, much to my surprise). I buy them both online s they're not available in the US. I know the La Roche Posay Fluide Extreme is supposed to be a good one too for the oiler types. It's similar to the Vichy Ultra Fluide.

Edited to add: there is another post on here and some are breaking out from the Hawaiian Tropic. I just saw that. Sorry. Sunscreen is tough. Some of the physical blocks might be nice, like the Skinceuticals too, but it is such an individual thing when it comes to these sunscreens and breakouts. What about one of the mineral foundation powders with SPF?

Lehua, I also had some suspicions as to whether the SkinEffects Brightening Complex was causing some breakouts, but I was never certain since I also started using it with a couple of other new products. (I'm not using it now simply because I don't like the "film" it leaves on my face -- my makeup just doesn't apply right with it.) Regarding sunscreens, though -- my favorite thing to rant on, lol -- since you're using a mineral makeup (and I assume that means powders work well on your face) you might want to check out Colorescience's Sunforgettable sunscreen, since it's a powder and can be used under your mineral makeup with no problem. Here's the link so you can see what you think: www.beautybridge.com/cosusallcls.html . I gave you the link to the trial size, since this stuff is too pricey (in my humble opinion) to purchase without trying first. I haven't had any issues (no breakouts, no sensitivity) to the Sunforgettable. Hope this helps...

Gail:
Thanks for the info on the Sunforgettable sunscreen powder! I did order a sample to try.
Don't you wish you could get samples of every product before you try it?

Yes, the Bare Minerals is a powder and yes it has an SPF 15. That is not a high enough SPF since I live in a hot and sunny climate year round.

Yes. I couldn't believe that EA sensitive skin range don't do samples. As I've said previously us sensitive skin folk need samples more than those resistant types.
