Hello everyone;
So after having crazy issues with my skin (painful, cystic or nodule type acne, massive irritation, dry patches, etc), I finally had to suck it up and visit a dermatologist today. He put me on doxycycline 100 mg 2x a day, and he also prescribed tretonin 0.025% to use at night. He said I could, if I wanted, continue to use the clindamycin my GP had originally prescribed. The clindamycin had done some good with the breakouts, but then made my eyelids super dry, itchy, painful and so swollen I looked like I had been punched in the face, and it made the corners of my mouth split open. I guess my question is if I use the tretonin while I'm using the antiboitic, how can I pinpoint if something is or isn't working? Should I only use the tretonin once every few days and see how my skin reacts? And would continuing to use the clindamycin be useful or stupid? I was so excited to hopefully be getting my skin back on track, but then I thought about how would I know if, or what, is or isn't working? Thanks in advance for any advice!
