After a difficult winter of searching for a moisturizer for my DSPT acne prone skin, I decided to do some serious research. So, I listed all the products I've tried (unsuccessfully) in the last two years and compared their ingredients against the lists that Dr Bauman cautions to avoid if you are acne prone. Two ingredients consistently show up in the products I've tried: cetyl alcohol and cetearyl alcohol. Does this mean I have a sensitivity to coconut oil? If it does, I'm in trouble. These ingredients and other derivatives of coconut oil are in everything moisturizing, it seems. I haven't broken out in rashes from these products. I do, however, break out in one or a few large pimples (some cystic) that have left large red marks on my extremely fair skin.
I am currently using only Laroche Posay Toleriane cleanser, and I'm looking suspiciously at it. Our Spring weather this year is less humid than usual and still quite cold, so I could use the moisture. I'm just afraid to try anything new until I hear from you wise people.
Would a pure aloe gel be moisturizing enough for me? I located one from a company called Dakota Free that doesn't contain coconut oil, parabens, fragrance, alcohol, etc.. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
PJ
