As we age, our skin gets thinner and thinner. Some advocate the use of chemical products to thicken the skin (face). Perusing the internet and especially YouTube, I learnt of a technique in Thailand where a masseuse will slap gingerly a person's face (without bruising) to restore vitality, color, and thickness to the skin! I am a 54 year-old male that has used this technique for two weeks with astonishing results. My skin is more uniform in color and feels tighter (I also practice facial massage techniques). I'd like to hear from dermatologists on the underlying science. Specifically, if I irritate my skin mechanically (e.g. massage, slapping), will the skin react by thickening? Are there any risks associated with this practice?
Thank you in advance!
