I am wondering how long I should stick with a product when it warns that an "initial breakout" is normal at first. I started using the Nia 24 skin strengthening complex in early March. I was desperate for moisture this winter (tight, flaky skin) and continue to search for something truly moisturizing that won't cause breakouts...I wanted this to be my HG. Originally I had a few slight spots to get rid of, but since starting this product, I have many more. I had the initial breakout and then some. I am fair and any breakout leaves a pink spot for months (sometimes longer). I was sure that things were finally slowing down this week only to wake up this morning to two more new spots. My cheeks are usually the testing ground for any reaction, but these breakouts are all over my face...one or two at a time and days apart.
On the positive side, the texture of my skin has improved, pores appear smaller and it feels very comfortable on (no stinging or redness). The occasional redness in my cheeks is calmer too...when there isn't a little pimple on one of them. ugh. Also, ironically, most of the breakouts have healed quickly (within a day or so) and leave little or no pink spot...extremely unusual for me. It's the strangest thing, and I want it to work desperately. So, what should I do? Throw in the towel or hang in there?
I am one of the few DSPT/W's that is acne prone anyway, so I don't need to add to my problems. And yet, there have been benefits to my skin. I did start out twice/day and then cut back to once/day (the introductory regimen they suggest if breakouts are a problem). I thought that was helping, but I continue to breakout.
My next try will be the Atopalm. I hope there are no cloggers in that.
Thanks,
PJ
