Hi, all...

There are several threads talking about mineral makeup in the various oily skin type categories. I was thinking maybe we could all meet up to talk about it here?

I liked Physician's Formula pressed powder. After trying Bare Essensuals and finding it too shiny, I decided to try several matte mineral makeups without the bizmuth. I compared products by applying half of one on one side of my face and the other half on the other side. I decided on Aromaleigh (with Everyday Minerals a close second). Aromaleigh had a better color match for me. Of the primers I found the ones with calcium carbonate or kaolin worked the best. I didn't like the veils I used. I think the cornstarch most of them use accentuated my lines too much. Aromaleigh's primer has calcium carbonate.

I still need to touch up for shininess after about 4-5 hours (it's very humid here), but I like the coverage and it handles my oily eyelids wonderfully! There is some tendency to collect in my fine lines (sounds better than wrinkles, huh?), but that's only after about 6 hours, not noticeable at a sink mirror's distance and easy for me to touch up.

Now, I've run into a problem with blush, however. The Aromaleigh blushes I'm trying (samples thank goodness!) look kind of white-ish when I first put them on. I can't see the color until 20-30 minutes later. I like the color but this makes it very hard to apply the color to match on both sides. On the other hand, my old talc based blush doesn't seem to go on very well on top of mineral powder.

Any recommendations?

Thanks...

Hi I too am using Aromaleigh mineral make-up ( I really like it by the way ;D) I also sampled their blushes- The blush I like was The PURE ROUGH in Buff I didnt like the sheer one as it was not noticable on my face! I also like Estee Lauder's TENDER BLUSH I find that blushes "melt" off my face and this one stay in place the longest. I too have issues with eyeshadow "melting off" Have you tried Aromaleighs eyeshadow minerals? I use their "base" and the eyeshadows are still there when I take my make-up off at night! Great color selections too!

Kathy,

I also tried Aromaleigh and I really liked it but I guess I am one of the few who can't use it. I loved it's staying power and the color selection but alas it made me break out. I also noticed that blushes weren't showing up on me after putting on the minerals. Even after going back to my old blushes. There's something about the Aromaleigh minerals not grabbing blush color. I've never had that problem with any other makeup. It didn't bother me at all, just had to use a heavier hand when applying. (and definitely use a darker color.) Kind of a bummer if you have to go buy new blushes.

Not sure I helped you but thought I'd chime in and let you know you aren't the only one with that problem.

I was having the same issue with the Aromaleigh blush not showing up very much on my skin unless I was heavy handed (which doesn't look good in the sunlight -- too much powdery stuff on my cheeks.) I searched through about a hundred old posts on their forum and found where some of them had discussed that it was a good idea to "burnish" the blush and then spritz your face after the blush was applied. Since my cheeks can become very sensitive from buffing very much with a blush brush, today I just lightly applied the blush with a fan brush -- just enough to "sort of" tell I had some blush on. Then I used my flocked sponge (dry) and pressed the blush into my skin -- several "presses" on each area -- and the color showed up more. Then I spritzed my face and could see the blush even a little more. I was happy with it today -- didn't have too much "powdery stuff" on, and didn't have a surprise later (as in clown cheeks) when the oils in my face mixed with the blush. Maybe it's worth a try?

I've heard that JI blushes are fantastic...I use a variety of blushes, inc. NARS (non-MMU) & BE. Did you ever visit the mineral mania forum over on delphi? LMK if you need their email address. Good luck on finding something you like!
