I cheated on my own good advice about watching out for active, exfoliating products and sticking to a very basic skin care routine ( that does include diet, exercise, and stress management....as well as watching Rosacea triggers).
I was trying a suggestion of alternating Finacea one day, a retinol the next, and resting the third day. I thought I was having a good experience with this until I went for a walk with my husband yesterday. It was sunny and quite cold outside and, though I had on an antioxidant and two sunscreens, the cold blistered the skin across my nose and cheeks. Sweet Colorado!
Did not think to wear a face mask because, afterall, I wasn't going skiing and had never had a problem with just being out in the cold before.
Today the dermatologist suggested treating this with some 1% hydrocortisone gel ( petrolatum ) and some Aquaphor over it.
I go for my annual skin check after ski season, so will talk with my derm about all this at that time.
Bunny, who would like to hide under a bush right now. :-[
D 23 - S 52 - N 23 - W 51. Turning 58 in January. My skin is healthier than ever thanks to the skin type solution, avoiding rosacea triggers, healthy diet and lifestyle. Live in Colorado and outdoors a lot, so sun avoidance is difficult and use no less than SPF 30 daily and 60 to 100 outdoors...which is often.Keeping skin barrier intact is a must. Love all my virtual skin friends at STS!
