TOPIC: Benzoyl peroxide question...

Benzoyl peroxide question... 5 years, 11 months ago #403

I sent this question to Dr. Baumann in the Q & A section too, but figured I'd also ask here...

I've read on a few other web sites, though the info seems mostly anecdotal, that benzoyl peroxide can cause free radical formation and contribute to aging of the skin. Is there really any truth to this?

Benzoyl peroxide does work great for me to get rid of the breakouts as part of my routine, but this just had me wondering. For example, I think benzoyl peroxide is banned in the European Union, but then again certain sunscreen ingredients are banned here (like Mexoryl), but the delay in this case is more political, not necessarily a medical safety issue.

Does anyone have any further knowledge on this? I know there is alot of misinformation floating around in cyberspace!!
