Hello. I just bought Dr B's book, in an attempt to understand my 47 year old skin issues. I have fought what I believe to be hormonal acne since my teens. After a hysterectomy (sorry if TMI) four years ago, I finally have the hormones under control, but the damage I've done to my skin is overwhelming to me. I am very fair, somewhat sensitive and confused about whether or not I am oily or dry. My first question is: What constitutes a "reaction". I'm very accustomed to being dry, tight, flaky, red and uncomfortable. I always thought those were good signs (stupid me). When I break out (now very rarely), I'm left with a pink spot (not usually brown). Years of scrubs, to keep those "scar" producing breakouts at bay (usually unsuccessfully) and never using sunscreen because I didn't think there was one that wouldn't cause outbreaks, I'm left with sun damage and redness. Can anyone recommend a cleanser that might work for my borderline d/o skin? These are my scores, but I'm not sure they are terribly accurate, because I'm clearly unaware of what kind of skin I really have: O/D 21.5, S/R 38.5, P/N 32.5, W/T 31.5 These could very likely change as I get to know my skin better. I came here especially dry and red after months of Differin use and a week of Hydroquinone 4%. Don't know where to start!
Slightly D 17, S 38.5, P 32.5, T 31.5
