I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of there being counterfeit skincare products? I'm thinking about ordering either a sunscreen from Bioderma or Avene. These products contain tinosorb which is not sold in the United States. I have e-mailed two companies and one has already responded to my questions.
Dear Cosmetics.net,
I'm thinking about purchasing one of your Bioderma or Avene sunscreens from your company, but I have some questions. 1. How do I know the product is fresh, does it have an expiration date on the bottle? 2. How do I know the product is genuine, since the FDA has not approved Tinosorb for sale in the United States? Do you buy directly from Bioderma and Avene? I would appreciate if you could please answer these questions before I decide to purchase from your company. Thank you for your time.
Dear
All of our products come directly from France. All of them have expiration dates, but the expiration dates are well into the future. As with many retailers the quantities that we buy are relatively small and not enough to allow us to buy directly from the manufacturers, which is good in a way as we buy in smaller quantities and always get fresh products from our supplier. All of our shipments pass through FDA inspections, and the documentation provided to them include a full list of ingredients, which often show Tinosorb. Again as our quantities are relatively small this has not presented a problem for us from the FDA.
As to whether our products are genuine or not, we assume that as they are coming directly from France and from a supplier whom we consider to be reputable, we have no reason to think that they are not genuine products and stand behind the quality and freshness of our products 100%.
