Hello,

I was wondering what luck you have had treating Keratosis pilaris. When I spoke with my dermatologist regarding the bumps I had on the backs of my shoulders and I thought it was acne, he said it wasn't acne and it was probably due to sweating. Unfortunately (for my health), I was not working out much if at all during the time I noticed having the bumps or doing much sweating. He was quite casual about it and said OTC hydrocortisone should do the trick. I've tried hydrocortisone with success (takes about 2 weeks to kick in), but I'm sure I can't use it all the time due to side effects. It's been on- and off-hydrocortisone 1%.

I've done some research online, and Dr. Baumann's book barely mentions Keratosis pilaris, and I am a little confused by the diagnosis. In my case, bumps all start out itchy and raised as if I got little hives, then they seem to turn into little pimples that are very stubborn and don't go away for a long time. Then, they leave little brown marks and I'm not sure if they even go away, since my complexion is becoming quite mottled.

Has anyone else been afflicted with this? Thanks!
