Idebenone is one of the recommended ingredients for ORPWs. I was looking at one product that has it for an ingredient, but it was a pretty pricy item. I'm wondering what it is particularly helpful for? Also, how does it compare to other ingredients that do generally the same thing?

Idebenone is for fine lines and wrinkles. It's in Prevage, which dermatologists/medi-spas sell at 1%. Elizabeth Arden has the Prevage at .5%. Since it's just as expensive as RetinA/Renova (tretinoin) and you would use the Prevage much much faster, and tretinoin has been proven to work to prevent as well as reduce wrinkles you already have, I'd put my money on the RetinA!

Idebenone does have some studies showing it to be effective, but it's not in the same category as a prescription.

I make my own Prevage by buying the active idebenone from a company called skinactives.com. It comes as a powder in a glass tube which I mix with their canvas base creme. Check it out.

Thanks for the tip. I wonder if I can mix it with one of my serums or lotions?

Would you say that Idebenone is more / less / about the same in terms of effectiveness as a product like Retinol?

Thanks...
