For the past couple of weeks I've been trialing MAC Studio Moisture Fix SPF 15 as the Avene sunscreens are too greasy for my skin (despite my skin being a little dry).
The MAC does cause a little irritation, but I've found buffering it with Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair stops the irritation nicely, so this might mean I can use other sunscreens, so long as there's something between me and them. This was very good to have found out!
Anyway, this week we have had some glorious weather with lots of sunshine and it has been very warm. I've been applying lots of the MAC moisturiser. It is *very* cosmetically elegant so I've been able to put at least a quarter teaspoon on my face alone with no problems (and at least another quarter teaspoon on my neck), and in the 2 weeks have nearly gone through the 50ml/1.7oz bottle. I've also reapplied it on many occasions when I've been going out a little later in the day to be sure I had proper coverage. I haven't spent a lot of time outside either, all week probably no more than a couple of hours and I apply it even when I'm home for most of the day.
Having said that, after my shower tonight I noticed that my face had quite a bit of colour. I let my body cool down and looked again, and comparing my face to my arms which had no sunscreen on them my face is significantly darker. I know this has only happened in the last couple of weeks too as it's only a couple of weeks ago that I did the same comparison and my face was quite a bit paler than my arms.
The areas of my neck where I didn't apply the sunscreen, that were also exposed to the sun are lighter than the areas where I applied the sunscreen. This doesn't make sense to me at all.
Given that the sunscreen contains only stable ingredients, and that I've been applying it properly and not spending that much time in the sun, does anyone know why this could have happened or has it happened to you?
