Hi All,
I am in need of some help with my sikin- my old routine worked well but as I've gotten further into my 30's (I'm 33 1/2 years old), my skin just looks dull, flaky and more aged. My makeup was not going on smoothly and made my skin look dry but my nose and chin were oily enough that I need powder. My moisturizer works well but doesn't have any real helpful ingredients (probably because it's for sensitive skin!). So, I picked up this book and took the test. I'm on the border of nearly all the categories! Here are my scores:
D- 25
S- 31
P- 29
T- 38
I actually took the test a few times since I was so close and each time trying to really give the most accurate answer (harder than I thought!). After averaging my results, DSPT is what I settled on. Whew! But, because I'm so borderline I find the book difficult- I'm not so dry that I need heavy moisturizing etc. But some of the recommendations for the oily, sensitives are too strong and drying for me. Produts for the dry, sensitive types are too heavy. Trying out different products is irritating my skin and leaving me with tons of pimples! I'm getting frustrated. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, any hints or recommendations on how to use the book? I wanted to eliminate the trial and error process but it might have to be that way for me (?). I tried a retinol and it was great... for a few weeks. Even though I only used it 3 nights a week it became irritating over time and I felt like I had a sunburn. I thought the Olay Total Effects or Regenerist lotions and serums might provide similar results but the lotion was too heavy for me, even though I have somewhat dry skin. I'd love some input of anyone who's in similar shoes.
