I started my new regimine 2 weeks ago, introducing a new product every week so as not to overwhelm my skin. I use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer which are not new, I introduced Skinceuticals Serum 10 first, then just this week Paula's Choice 2% BHA Lotion. I am more red all over (only had slight flushing on my cheeks before) and breaking out more. I expect some purging due to the change in products, but I'm breaking out now on my cheeks and upper lip, where before I only would get zits on my chin. I have Green Cream and the PTR Sulfur Mask to complete my product change over, but haven't used them yet. Pror to this I was using the Cetaphil and Proactiv cleanser and BP lotion. :-

Anyone have any ideas as to why I'm red all over? Is this an allergic reaction or a normal change?

I had a sample of the Skinceuticals Serum 10 a year or so ago and I couldn't use it because my face got very red (looked sunburned) from it after using it once, so I wonder if that could be the culprit. I have the Paula's Choice 2% BHA lotion and haven't had any problems with that causing redness or breakouts. Of course, redness isn't one of my normal issues, so I suppose the Paula's Choice could be too strong for your skin. But the Skinceuticals Serum 10 would be my first guess as to causing redness. Hopefully some others will comment who'll be able to offer better insight!

I would suspect the C serum also. I am an OSPT, and I cannot use any C serums at all - they always leave my face looking badly sunburned. To me, using a C serum is kind of like doing a mild chemical peel, but the horrible red swollen look lasts for 3-4 days until the skin flakes like a sunburn would.

I'm going with the other two on the C serum. C burns/makes me red.

I did get some peeling on my nose in the first with the PC 2% BHA, but no redness.

I third the motion. I bought the Skinceuticals serum 15!! Big mistake, big!

I think that's probably your culprit. Leave that product out and keep using everything else and see if things don't get better. If not then try leaving out the paula's choice stuff. I've never tried her stuff so I don't know. (but it is on my list of stuff to try eventually.)
