Just wondering how Tazorac compares to Retin-A?
I used Retin-A for many years and and worked up to the .1 strength. I took a hiatus from it for two years while trying to get pregnant and recently re-started at the .025 level. It's been a couple of months and I'm past the flaky stage, though I'm still a bit dry from it. Although I test out as "S" my skin is not particularly sensitive. My acne is hormonal (BCP made it worse) and doesn't seem to be aggravated by much . . . but it hasn't ever responded really well to treatment.
Right now, between the Retin-A and the Neutrogena BHA Acne Stress lotion (which I love!) I'm down to a few relatively minor hormonal breakouts. Adding the BHA really seems to make a difference. In addition to the acne, I have some very faint freckling on one cheek and a couple of small brown spots on the other. And of course I'm worried about wrinkles generally!
Anyway, when I went to the derm to have a couple of skin tags removed I asked whether she would recommend a different retinoid to address my concerns. She said she generally prescribes Retin-A and Differin to her teenage patients and suggested that I try Tazorac instead. (Note: this derm is really annoying. She's obviously very into her own appearanced as she is groomed, manicured, and Botoxed to the max, but she didn't take any of my concerns seriously and didn't even want to remove the skin tag from my face.) She didn't suggest any of the buffering or short contact therapy discussed here or in the book.
So, I was wondering whether anyone here had any personal experience with Tazorac and how it compares to other retinoids. I've read some of the links shared here but I'm hoping for some first-person discussion. Thanks!
