Having being somewhat inspired by Josh and his paired down (and glowing) skincare routine, I decided I, like many others, kept bombarding myself with new products and following that, many times new problems. What kind of mental check-list could i use to prevent over/redundant buying habits. Here iit is:
Does it contain beneficial ingredients or is recommended by Dr. B for my skin-type?
Does it omit ingredients my skintype should avoid?
Do I already own a product that either has a similiar function or contains a similar ingredient and I am happy with how it's working? Therefore, do I really need it?
Using this mental (actually I wrote it on an index card!) check list which I also added the particular ingredients to look for for my skintype, I am hoping to avoid over-buying. I decided this after reading Josh's thread and also after looking at my skincare supply and seeing 4 eye-creams, 5 sunblocks and 5 cleansers!!
I think this check-list could work well for any of us. And I have found out recently the hard way, the more I use, the worse my skin looks and the harder time I have determining what works/doesn't work!
For now, I am really, really going to try and stick with the HG's:
Clinique Mild liquid soap (aloe, chamomile), mild clarifier(aloe, salicylic acid), Even Better skin-tone perfector(cucumber and mulberry extract)
Olay Total Effects/Regenerist serum (niacinamide)
Aveeno Ultra-calming trio(feverfew and soy)
Olay Regenerist eye-cream(green tea and niacinamide)
Eucerinn spf 30 or Clinique City Block sheer 25 (no avobenzone, greaseless)
With the exception of the Eucerin, which I've only used for a few days, everything else is a tried and true no-brainer, never causes a problem product. Those, with the addition of my daily RX products (finacea and metro-gel) may be all I really need...(of course, want is a different story!)
