Has anyone else discovered that cleansers for Dry types actually work better for your skin?

Let me back up . . .

Before reading Dr. B's book and trying out some new cleansers and acne products, I used Noxzema cleansing cream (Original formula), followed by Biore's Pore Perfect toner, and then Neutragena 2% benzoyl peroxide cream on my T-Zone. I then finished with Bioskincare cream (www.bioskincare.com). I only added moisturizer (Neutragena for Sensitive Skin) if certain parts of my face were drier. I exfoliated 2-3 times a week and used a depp cleansing mask occasionally. I was pretty happy with my skin, but the shininess was annoying!

So, fast-forward to this past fall when I discovered that oily types should stay away from cream cleansers, so I've been trying out some other recommended cleansers with mixed success (such as Neutragena's Acne Stress-Control, Cetaphil for normal-oily skin, Aveeno Clear Complexion, Biore's Warming Blackhead Eliminating Cleanser, etc.). My shininess dissipated quite a bit at first, but then I started breaking out like crazy all around my chin and nose area (and even on my cheeks, which never happens). I only introduced one product at a time and gave it some time to see if my skin just needed to readjust to it, but nothing really worked. The acne didn't go away, the shininess returned, and my skin felt really dried out (before it got oily again). Grrr!

So last week I went back to my Noxzema and my skin already feels softer and healthier, and no new zits to report! (still waiting for the old ones to go away)

Yes, I still have the shininess and will probably always need to use powder, but I like not having to worry about covering up nasty zits. So, has anyone else discovered that the types of cleansers recommended for their skin type did in fact NOT work for them, and they needed to use a "Dry" person's cleanser??

Hope I'm making sense here . . .
