I've just gone from every other night to using Renova every night. To get acclimated I've also been using Atopalm MLE at the same time (which is a very strong moisturizer). I was putting it on first and then the Renova on top but I started worrying that it acted as such a strong moisture barrier it might also keep the Renova out. So now I've stopped the moisturizer and just use Renova - and I do get a bit of flaking the next morning.
My question: if you use a moisturizer with Renova, which goes on first -- if it matters?

It definitely matters! You're right that the moisturizer would act as a barrier. You use the Renova first. Then after it's dried you can use a moisturizer if you need to.

Darn! That means all this time I thought the Atopalm was helping me not flake -- it was helping so much I wasn't getting any benefit of the Renova at all! Well, I'm glad I've learned and only wasted a few months. I'm sure I'll now go through a break-in period but I'm going to stick to using it every day and see if my skin can handle it.

Thanks for your answer.

Leslie,

You probably got some benefit of the Renova, just not close to full benefit. The moisturizer will help you not flake if you use it over the Renova, too.

I really think everybody flakes some with Renova. The flakey period didn't last long with me though. I do occasionally flake from it if I use too much though, even now. Good luck! It's worth it!

If you go by Dr B's recommendations in her book, it tells you to begin very slowly by using the renova OVER your moisturzer unti your skin gets acclimated to it. Then slowly begin using the renova and then the moisturizer. The proper way to do this after you're at the point of using your renova nightly, I believe, is to cleanse your face, about 20 minutes later apply the renova and then add your moisturizer over that - that's what I do.. I think the entire explanation on how to do this is somewhere at the end of her book. It worked great for me! Carol
