TOPIC: What antioxidant and anti-inflammatory serums/lotions are you all liking?

What antioxidant and anti-inflammatory serums/lotions are you all liking? 5 years, 11 months ago #257

I was just curious, as this is the only thing I have not added to my routine consistently. I am looking for something that's not silicone based since I don't like the way silicone based products make my skin feel. So far I am liking the Aveeno Ultra Calming cream, though I'm not a big fan of the scent, but it does dissipate after a few minutes.

My skin is looking fab these days, I wish I would have taken before and after pics. I have almost no acne breakouts to speak of, now have no redness, and significantly less clogged pores. And my skin actually seems like it may be making its way over to the R side, as I was just slightly sensitive initially. (Thanks, Dr. Baumann!)

Perhaps I shouldn't mess with a good thing, but would like make sure I"m doing what I can to prevent future wrinkles.

TIA,
Marcy (initally tested DSNW, am now OSNW with the warmer weather)
Marcy - age 39
D in winter, O in summer
R but if I"m not careful I can become an S
P
W
occasional breakouts, but more hormonal in the jaw/upper neck area

That's great! What products are you using? Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Intensive Serum has gotten quite a few raves.

This has been my routine for the past 6 weeks or so:

am
-Aveeno Ultra Calming cleanser
-spot treat with benzoyl peroxide over breakout prone areas (jawline/neck)
-LRP facial water
-Aveeno Ultra Calming cream only if dry
-La Roche Posay Dermo Peds Anthelios Lotion SPF 50 (I went with a European sunscreen since I'm in the sun a lot with my two kids and can't always reapply all the time)

pm
-DHC deep cleansing oil (helps remove the sunscreen without being harsh)
-follow up with Aveeno Ultra Calming cleaner only if I feel like I need it
-.025% Retin-A Micro gel
-wait 30 mins, apply Aveeno Ultra Calming cream only if needed

I like this, it's really simple and it's working great!! The recommended products are a bit of a mish mash from a few skin type chapters, though since I'm borderline D/O and S/R this is working well for me.

I re-read your post and you said you were looking for something without silicones. If your regime is working then I wouldn't change a thing.

Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Night Cream is a rec for DSPW so you might want to replace that with the Aveeno. It's a gel-creme so it might be a better choice for the warmer weather and it's fragrance-free. I was thinking of trying it myself but it wasn't a recommended product for OSPW. I posted a new topic about using different products from another skin type.

Based on Dr. Baumann's recs for my skintype, I've been using LRP Rosaliac Anti-Redness Moisturizer under my regular moisturizer. Contains niacinamide and helps to strengthen sensitive skin. It is really a lotion and sinks in immediately. So it works well under SPF or a day cream or lotion w/SPF. Ordinarily I would never have considered this product since it has alcohol denat., but it is working well for my skin and I am really pleased with the results.

Should add that it does have a silicone, cyclohexasiloxane, but it doesn't give my skin that icky feeling that most silicone laden products do.
