Well, I am almost getting deperate enough to consider asking my doctor about Accutane so I can at least spend my old age without oily skin that makes all makeup and skincare a challenge. Has anyone ever gone on this when they've been older? I know there can be some difficult side effects and don't know if my age will make them too much to deal with. Any comments?? TIA!

that's a good question. Have you submitted it to the Q&A forum? It looks like one that would make a good Q&A question.

Actually, I was going to see if I could withdraw the post! I have come back to my senses so to speak. Accutane is far too rough for me to use now, if ever. I will just have to "live" with it I think.

Kylie,

I don't know enough about Accutane. Is it that harsh? I know that one needs bloodwork done to stay on it, but I don't know what other issues there are with it. I am curious now about age issues with Accutane. Something perhaps to google in my spare time.

Kylie,

I doubt a doctor would give you Accutane for oily skin. I'm not sure about it being harsh, but I know there are lots of side effects. Besides that, if you're still having your periods, you have to have a pregnancy test each month and blood tests. It would be a lot of hassle on top of everything else.

You're using RetinA, aren't you? Isn't that helping your oiliness??
