Hi! Two weeks ago I saw a dermatologist who immediately diagnosed rosacea. No surprise to me, but I saw a different derm two months ago who assured me it was not rosacea--just adult acne (the treatment plan he prescribed didn't help much).
For the last 10 days I've battled an eye problem. When I called, my Dr. was out of town, but his partner thought it was conjunctivitis. Treatment helped, but within two days of finishing prednisone and one day of finishing antibiotics, it was back with a vengence. My Dr. was concerned about a systemic infection, drew blood, new antibiotic, another round of prednisone, painkillers, set me up with an opthamologist right away (in a few hours) to check the eye itself, and then suggested he would be willing to admit me to the hospital for intravenous antibiotics. OK, that scared me.
The opthamologist was very thorough. Almost the first thing he asked was if I'd been diagnosed with rosacea. (Consider here that I'd been on antibiotics for two weeks+Metrogel+Rosula cleanser so my skin was WAY better than it has been for months.) He said I have ocular rosacea. I knew of ocular rosacea, but never considered I had it. Now I have a different antibiotic, eye washes, steroid drops, eye ointment.... He said this is something I'll need to watch for and can work with both him and my dermatologist on it.
I know....long story, but I could sure use some more information about this. Can anyone help me, please? Thank you! Beth
