Hi all,

I've been thinking about ingredients that mimic estrogen and thus cause pigmentation....I never used to have much problem with pigment, but a long while back I switched to a "natural" "organic" face wash (Avalon Organics) whose primary ingredient was organic hydrosol (meaning lavender water) and suddenly I was getting brown pigment spots. Then I read Dr. B's book and find out that lo and behold lavender stimulates pigmentation. Thank goodness I stopped using it.

The other day I ran across an in interesting blurb in Scientific American: a group of young boys who sought medical attention due to abnormal breast development were all found to have been using lavender shampoos/soaps. The research suggested that lavendar mimics estrogen in the body and actually suppressed male hormones. This shed whole new light on why is it that lavender may cause pigment, as well. Here's the link--page down to "BIOLOGY"

Here's a question for you all--if soy with the estrogenic compounds NOT removed also causes pigmentation, then soybean oil would probably be a no-no for pigmented types wouldn't it? I ask because Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Cleanser has soybean oil high up on the list.

Also, does anyone know if consuming soy products causes pigmentation? If so, I'm in trouble....
