I'm new here and glad finally to have a log in. Dr. Baumann's book has been a great help in getting a handle on my cosmetic-hostile skin. Years ago I had two severe reactions to something on the skin over my cheekbones. One was to sunscreen and the other to some other cosmetic. I just stopped using anything but mild soap on my face most of the time, except that I used Original Noxema sometimes. That didn't work too well, but it beat blisters. The Noxema has never caused any problem. I did find I could use Clinique City Block.
Anyway, to cut to the chase, I had thought that parabens might be a problem, they're in so many products, so i googled parabens after reading the book and found some info on "paraben paradox". If I understand correctly, parabens can cause a reaction when the skin barrier is compromised; that seemed to fit my experience. I now read the labels and just don't use anything with parabens and I think my skin is getting better. At age 64 healing is a bit slower that it used to be.
Just wondering whether anyone else has any experience with this.
