I have not posted in a while but I wanted to share a discovery with you. I always have dry skin in the winter but this year was particularly annoying. Despite putting lotion on as soon as I stepped out of the shower and troughout the day I was still plagued with itchy skin. Two weeks ago I stumbled onto an article about zinc being an important mineral for healthy skin and those who are low on it could have a problem with dryness and itching. Well I had some left over zinc tablets from when I was trying to get over a cold. So I thought I would give it a try. I started taking the zinc again and changed nothing else in my routine. The itching stopped after two days and I noticed the flakyness reduced as well. I now take one 50 mg tablet a day along with my regular vitamin supplements. Maybe this will help someone else who has been suffering from dry skin too.
