I dont remember if there was any mention of Vaseline in the book or not, but is Vaseline too thick to penetrate the pores? Since I am on accutane, I am extremely dry and its seems like the only thing that keeps my skin hydrated. Does anyone think it would be okay to continue with this when I am done with Accutane?

I haven't tried Vaseline, but I really like Aquahor Healing Ointment as it is 41% petrolatum and also contains pathenol and bisabolol (Note: this is NOT the original ointment, but the healing one).  During the winter (dry air, low humidity), I like to layer it over hyaluronic acid after spraying my Avene thermal water.  Hope this helps!

Not sure about the vaseline, but when my friend was on Accutane her dermo suggested Moisturel cream.

My dermatologist told me to use vaseline whenever I feel dry. (I'm oily, so the thought of doing that COMPLETELY grossed me out.) But she promised it wouldn't break me out. She said just get a little bit on your hands, rub them together and pat it on your face. She said it still lets your pores breathe while keeping moisture in.

I never tried it, but she swears by it.
Good luck!

Wow, Sondra -- I also can't imagine using Vaseline on oily skin. It's amazing to think it wouldn't break out us oily types, but who knows??? ???

FSTAR, Dr. B also has dry skin and in one of her articles (www.16skintypes.com/media/Baumann_Allure.pdf) when she was asked how she takes care of her dry skin when flying, she mentioned using Vaseline around her eyes and on her lips, and mentions some other very hydrating products she uses on her face. You might want to check it out and see what you think. As far as mentioning its use in her book, it doesn't show up in the index so apparently she didn't recommend it there.
