I used the non-RX regimen for about 4--5 wks prior to seeing my derm. She was able to get me in before the 2 month time period I thought I'd have.Since I took Dr.B's book with me to my appt.,I discussed my *test results*,showed my scores and what I typed as.Then told my derm what products I was using.I was then given samples of Renova .02%,told to use pea-size nightly, then come back in 2-4 weeks and let her check my skin.I tolerated the .02% with just a bit of tightness/one underground zit,(not sure what caused it) in the beginning, and other than it not going on easily,I had no issues to speak of.Being the impatient person that I am,when I went back to my derm,I asked her to let me sample the .05% and she was fine with it.She told me that even tho I felt I was an OSPW,looking at my skin,I was an ORNT in her opinion.SO,my question, and yes,I really was getting to it,can you change skin types and if so,do you go ahead and try products for the skin yours has become or continue with your present type so it doesn't revert back? hope this made sense.

Lynn,

I'm sure you were asking Dr. Baumann and not me, but yes you can change skin types. I had a lot of brown spots on my skin in the past (from sun). When I started using glycolic acid and then Renova they went away.

I remember when I was typed at the Prescriptives counter for foundation. They told me I had the hardest skin type to match because I had so much pigmentation. They also put a very heavy oil-free foundation on me. Now when I go to a cosmetics counter, there's not really any discussion. The first one they pull out is a match and they always compliment my skin! That *never* happened in the past!

As far as changing from W to T, you would need to take the test again to see if anything has changed. Wrinkled doesn't mean that you have wrinkles though. I'm a W and don't have any wrinkles. I always lived in the sun though and used baby oil, etc. etc., so I could be prone to wrinkles. Treating yourself as a W though isn't a bad thing. It's just a preventative measure!

I remember reading in the book where one can chagne types due to the season, hormonal issues (like pregnancy), or moving to a different climate, s it makes sense that one could change with skincare too. I know that now that we've moved from winter to spring, my O/D score has gotten a tad bit higher. Bleh.

Gosh Nicknack, every time I read a response from you, I feel this kinship thing. I had the exact same experience at the Prescriptives counter. (I always hate going to get matched for foundation because they take off all your makeup and I feel like EVERYONE is staring at my awful skin!)

Your report about getting compliments from everybody is making me excited to get started using RX reinoids. I have an appt this Wed!! Yay! I'm still vascillating between Differin and Retin A micro. I guess the dr. will have to sway my vote.

Thanks for all your advice, posts, wisdom etc... It's really giving me hope!!
