I thought I'd share this with you folks because I think you could relate to it...
As I've said in other threads, I recently began using Retin-A and am going through the dreaded "molting" period. I had told my husband I might peel slightly, but the other day I was having some serious molting action on my chin. He looked at it and then said,
"Wow, your face is really peeling."
I wasn't in a great mood and didn't feel like talking much, so I just said, "Yeah, it's supposed to for a while."
"What are you doing this for, again?" he asked, STILL STARING at my flaky face.
"It's good for skin," I said, mildly amused but still hoping the conversation would just end. Instead, he pressed further.
"So, this is a beauty thing, then?"
"Yes!" I answered. He still hadn't taken his eyes off my chin.
"And it's working?!" he asked incredulously.
By this time I was laughing, but I told him to leave me alone. I can kind of understand where he's coming from, though--if you don't know what retinoids can do, you might wonder why anyone would ever want to use them!
