I read the book late last week and I was excited to see (I'm in the low end of Sensitive) that there were products to get the redness out. I got hit with severe redness since I seem to be allergic to salclyic acid. Anyway, I purchase the unscented Olay Total Effects 7x... moisturizer and WOW, the first night it got rid of a ton of my red!

I used it last night, and then woke up today with itching ???

I dunno, but I seemed to have better luck before.. Very annoying and frustrating. I also found my beloved When Hope is Not Enough Serum by Philosopyy as a no-no because of one ingredient in the book. I've been using it for two months and my skin looks and feels different. I'm starting to think if I do the opposite of the book I'll be good..

My skin looked great, I just had to get rid of the red. Is the itching normal? I have no redness? It is because I'm a nervous wreck now worrying about everthing I put on my face?!?! :'(

If you were using the serum and did not have any problems with it, why did you stop?

are you OSNW? If redness is the only problem you could try the aveeno moisturizing cream/lotion and eucerin makes one too.

Dr. Baumann before mentioned those things listed to avoid, not everyone has problems with all of them.

I'm an OSNT (but have some sun spots, so I looked in pigmented for ideas). As for the serum, I am going to go back to using it tonight. I'm going back to all I was using before.

The Olay did take a huge chunk of redness away on my first night, so I don't think it bothers me. But I'm just going to wait a bit on it. I had just introduced a new sunscreen (and love it) two weeks ago, and I've been learning to give each new thing a month. Then if no breakouts or redness like I had with the salilclyic acid, I may add or try another. I just want a redness remover and in the Fall I need to use a lightener to get sun spots out. I'd also like to get in some retinol - even if it's occasional.

Hi Catlover, I just started using Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Night Cream (rec'd for some OS types too) three days ago, and I have already started seeing a difference. The day after I started using it, I saw that my freckles (and sunspots) were suddenly more noticeable - and I suddenly realized it was because there was less underlying pink - so now, those little sunspots that weren't bugging me too much, have got to go It isn't total - there is still redness, but it was much more than I expected this soon. The package says it will provide immediate redness relief, and improve skin in a month's time. Anyway, it might work for you too.

Btw, I'm going to get the Olay 7x too - I'm glad you posted your experience with it, thanks! I want something I can use as a daytime moisturizer under SS, and this 7x sounds good.

Also - I was a little frustrated at first too. I'm definitely S (on the low end - 33), but borderline in everything else. I originally went with OSPW, and my skin did not respond well to the recommended products. I'm going with DSPW now and things are improving. Is there any chance you are D and not O?

Hi,

Oh, I'm definitely and Oily. I scored 33 and it used to be higher, but I have learned a few things about making it less oily.

It's interesting that you mentioned Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Night Cream because I was debating between that and the Olay, but the Eucerin has Tapioca Starch in it and I have an allerty to plan old corn starch (it's so odd that things that should sooth me I'm allergic to and other things that I should run from work great), so I went with the Olay 7 X. I do like it and I'm blown away at how much redness it got rid of. But I'm only going to use it a few times a week.

Now I'm also needing (and new it) a product to get the brown out from abusing he sun.

I guess my biggest frustation is that my skin is very fickle and it seems that things that shouldn't bother it do, and other things that should, do not. It seems I was on track with my skin regime (other then the Olay 7 x which has helped.
