You can see by the vast amount of postings that many of us are confused about the new mineral make-ups that are hitting the market. I've been told by an Ulta representative ( Midwest skincare and make-up store) that many companies will soon carry the mineral make-ups. They claim that they are for any skin-type. Would you shed some light on them and tell everyone your thoughts about them.

Thank you

Right now the mineral make up turned is mostly marketing. There is not proof that the minerals are any better for your skin than regular make up. However, they are cosmetically elegant and many people like them. I am neither for or against them at this point until I see some convincing data that they are any better. I hate it when companies make unfounded claims. Please let me know if you ever see any data on this. I regularly scour the good journals that only publish well designed trials with believable results and I have not seen anything at all actually studyign these minerals on skin.

I am going to ask the web master if we can add spell check on this!

This is confusing. Rare minerals is a skin treatment line being marketed
by Bare Essentials. Bare Essentials are owned by a parent company that
makes products used by estheticians.
The two most popular mineral makeups are Bare Essentials and Jane Iredale.
I have heard Leslie Blodgett say on QVC that it is good for your skin.
I have very sensitive skin and Bare Essentials makeup is wonderful for me.
However, Physicians Formula mineral makeup makes me itch.
So Rare Minerals is a treatment product.
Bare Minerals is a makeup.

Well, of course Leslie Blodgett is going to say that her own line is good for skin. Every owner would. While the foundation works for me, I know plenty of rosaceans/sensitives who are irritated by it because of the mica. I don't think there is much out there that works for everyone.

There are quite a few sensitive skin types that cannot use BE foundation or the Mineral Veil powder because of the bismuth oxychloride in it. I don't use BE foundation or the MV because it always made my dry skin look more dry and actually accentuated the wrinkles. Now that my skin is in such better shape, I still don't think I'll go back to BE foundation or MV. I do use the blushes, e/s and liners.

There is a justifiable reason why Leslie along with every other cosmetic company swears to you that their product is perfect for you...they want the sales. It is up to us to review, research, ask questions of each other, etc. etc. I used to sell Origins as a part time job at Foleys (now Macy's).... their big claim to fame was "all natural." Then I found out that no product is 100 percent natural or it won't be stable for long. That and that many many companies have botanicals as ingredients, it is just that they don't market theirs that way, i.e., MAC, Clarins (they both are botanical based in their skin care).

What I like is that now I don't have to spend unnecessary $$ on skin care anymore since reading this book.
