1) I have a question regarding subbing some of the DRPW products for DRNW skin. Although some products for the DRPW have skin lightners in them others do not, yet are not on the DRNW skin type list. Is there any reason these can't be used, as nothing other than pigmentation differentiates us?
2) Has anyone found a concealor for the DRNW skin type ?
3) For the DRPW prescription regime, it is recommended to use the Glycolic Cleanser with the Renova. Is there a reason this recommendation was not made for the DRNW tyoe.
4) When using the prescription DRNW regime can a retinol cream be used under the Renova for extra action, if you tolerate the Renova alone? I remember a number of years back Kligman was doing some work re the synergistic use of these 2 agents together. Does anyone know if this vetted positive results?

THanks for any advice you can share.

3) Glycolics help with pigmentation, so this would be my guess as to why she doesn't recommend it for non-pigments. Some of her recommendations confuse me when they are repeated--or are not repeated.

4) If you used a retinol cream under Renova, it would block some of the benefits of Renova. The retinol cream isn't nearly as beneficial as Renova (tretinoin), so I'm not sure why you would want to use both.

Dear Nick Knack,

Thanks for your help.

I am a score of 26 on PvsNP scale, so I guess the glycolic wash would be somewhat beneficial as I am clsoe to the line. Re the retinol cream I know that the dermatologist who did the original research on Retin A Cream hypothesized that a retinol cream would be synergistic with Retin A (Renova) when the two were used together, but I never saw the trial outcome. That was the reason I thought that they may work well together. I really appreciate your taking the time to answer me.

Sade,

I saw that you were asking (about retinol and RetinA) because of research. It doesn't make any sense to me to mix them, but then I'm not a scientist!

If you've never used glycolic acid you will probably love it. She doesn't recommend it for my skin type, but I've used it for quite a while and can't give it up.

Dear Nick Nack,

I actually do use a glycolic cleanser. Before reading Dr. Baumann's book I used a glycolic toner (10%). After reading her book on my skin type I switched to the glycolic cleanser to avoid the alcolhol in the toner. It did not say whether to take this route or not with DRNW, but I did it based on the DRPN skin. I can actually only use it in the morning - twice a day is too drying. But now that my skin is getting used to it I am not experiencing the dryness as much. I must admit that I am a Retin A addict. I am 51 years old and have been using it for 23 years (I got on the bandwagon early). I used to use Retin A cream at .1% but since Renova, have gone down to .05%. I swear by it. You know when you get a facial and the estehtician tells you how wonderful your skin is there must be something to it. Usually they say the opposite (now I know that I should not get facials from the book). Nevertheless, I have got the same comment from people who work cosmetic counters. It really is dryness that is the issue. I would definately recommend to those who haven't tried it to speak with their physicians and give it a go. Again thanks for your responses. I love getting input.
