In regards to Stage two: Prescription regimen (pg. 404)...

For PM step 3: Apply a nighttime moisturizer, do I use the recommended night creams on page 398 or the recommended evening moisturizers with retinol on page 399? I ask this because I will be applying a prescription retinoid for the PM step 4.

Thanks for any replies. -Michele

Michelle - I'm of the understanding that once you start using retinoids, you cut out all other products containing retinol.

Michelle:

I use Renova and I use the night time moisturizers that specifically don't contain retinol. For instance, now I use the Renova and then the Elizabeth Arden moisture network night cream or the Keihls lycopene moisturizer and either works great. I tend to get a little more adventuresome during the day when I'll use my serums and potions and lotions (ex: Skinceuticals CE Ferulic or C+AHA or Phyto+, or whatever else I want to sample at the time). I don't exfoliate with scrubs anymore, but I do use masks in the morning occasionally. I am also a DRPW. Let us know how you make out...

Michele,

I agree with Carol and Lynn. If you're using a prescription retinoid then your moisturizer should not contain retinol. However, you could use an eye cream with retinol since you won't use your prescription product there.

I just started using Renova (0.02%) exactly one month ago today and I am just getting ready to bump it to nightly usage.  I am a little confused, and would be interested in hearing from the Tretinoin veterans out there , that once I start using it nightly without buffering with a night cream first, will I eventually be using just the Renova, by itself, or should I always use a night cream on top?

Thanks...
