Hi
I read the book last night and believe I fall into the DRPW category. I'm definitely very pigmented and any blemish leaves a mark. I take an oral contraceptive (one designed to control heavy cycles and control acne). I had a break from this for 6 months last year and at age 30 got the worst acne I had ever experienced in my life (no acne as a teen)!! I went back on the same pill and it helped a bit but I am still getting quite a lot of acne on my chin where I have thick dark hairs that grow and which I pluck out (I am of mediterranean origin and have facial hair issues). So the pimples come from these hair shafts getting blocked and infected.

I have many friends who are beauticians and have been prescribed a brand at first called Ultraceuticals (I'm in Australia) - their website is quoted as saying "Ingredients such as Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid), Vitamin A (Retinol), Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Antioxidants work to promote healthy looking skin and combat the three main skin concerns; Ageing, Pigmentation and Acne." well I made the mistake of using all the new products at once and reacted badly - even though I come up as Resistant I do sometimes react to things with rashes or dryness. The main problem I had with the Ultraceuticals Vit A eye cream was that it dried my eyeballs out so much that I could not wear my contact lenses!!! Needless to say I stopped using it and had some success with Dermalogica intense eye repair which DR B recommends for DRPW. I found that the Vit C in the Ultraceuticals product range didn't really do much for me but that the evenskintone formula with salicylic acid was really nice once I phased it in.

My beautician then switched me to ASAP another Aussie brand which has Glycolic Acid instead and its ok and its eye cream was nice too but when that finished I tried a Decleor anti-ageing eye cream (still using this) but I still get very dry inner corners of my eyes and my eyelids have remained pink up till just below my eyebrows ever since the Ultraceuticals eye cream debarcle. The ASAP night cream is an AHA one which I like but I have to check the ingrediants and ASAP do a very nice SPF 30+ day cream which I find nice under makeup.

The nicest product I have ever used is Dermalogica's micro-daily-foliant - it purports to have salicylic acid in it and I seem to respond well to this product.

My question then (after this epic story - sorry) is whether I should treat my eye area as sensitive rather than resistant? Those of you with DRPW who use a glycolic cleanser to you avoid the eye area with this? What do you use to remove eye makeup?

I think I am borderline R/S on the rest of my skin even though my score isn't - I find the questionairre didn't really cover some of the things that annoy me about my skin. I might re-do it. Its getting into winter here in Australia and my face is feeling tighter and drier and I am starting to show signs of ageing so BR Bs recommendations have come at the right time for me.
