I would have liked to try Renova or one of the other prescription retinols listed in the book for DRPW but my insurance will only help pay for the generic version of Retin-A.  My question is, cream or gel and what percentage should I get since there is no recommendation in the book?

sarah - I ordered mine from a medsmex.com (as in Mexico)! With shipping, it came to around $22. It is a generic version called Renactyl. It took 2 weeks to get here. Anway, to answer your question.... I'm sensitive and was leery about starting out strong, so I went for the wimpy .25. But your skin is resistant. You could probably handle .5 to start. Maybe someone with your type would recommend you start out with the 1%, though. Hopefully more will jump in here.

I use the cream and I dilute it with a drop of serum. That helps it glide over the skin. Follow Dr. B's directions to a tee on this. Also, wash you face at least a half hour before you apply it.

Robin: I use Renova and the strength is wimpy 0.02%. I also follow Dr B's recommendations to a tee on how to break into using retinols. I think that this Renova has made a tremendous difference in my skin and will continue to use this religiously even if I change my everyday skin care products. I have yet to try purchasing through the Mexico website but may do so as the real Renova is expensive (over $100), but if you shop around you will definitely find a difference in prices. I have never thought to ask about the generic. What price did they give you for that? By the way, the tube of Renova I have will probably last me at least a year - it seems to go on forever and ever!!! So I guess if you're not sure, start out low - I never used Renova before and with this strength I never experienced any of the side affects other people complain about. You can always up it as you go along...

Hellooo there, Katmama! Of course we would end up here. I need to check back into Delphi soon, though - but there are only so many cyber hours in the day. Good to see alot of familiar names here. There will probably be more. Thanks for the compliment! I have to get a sharper picture. I sized one the exact size of that square, but I'd like to play around and load one that is larger and see if the software here will resize. That way I could explain it to anyone who wants to upload a shot.
So, if you see the picture changing, you know I'm playing - not a raving egomaniac.

DITTO on the Renova. It is the bomb, isn't it? I was so happy to start it and see the results because I felt like was doing nothing in the anti-aging department when I first got on the non-Rx program. I started at once per week. Now I'm going every third day. I tried every other day, but it seemed too harsh/too soon. Glad you are loving the results too.
