Using generic retin-A .05 cream. I had a little flaking -- not much and really no other changes -- is it working? I am now on using it every other night. Should I just be more patient?

For resistant skin, what is proper timing (minutes) of retinol after washing and before/after moisturizer?

Yes, it's working! I had very little flaking also. You could probably move up to every night if you wanted to.

You wait 20-30 minutes after washing your face before putting on the RetinA. You wait until the RetinA has dried to put on your moisturizer. There should be complete directions with the tube you received. If not, go to the RetinA website and download the instructions. It gives you time periods of what results you will see when.

It takes 6 months to fully see the results. Then you should use it for the rest of your life or your skin will revert back to the way it was.

Nick Nack,
why do we need to wait 20-30 minutes after washing our face to apply the Renova? I don't remember Dr. Baumann talking about this in the book. I definitely wait 30 minutes to put on my moisturizer after the Renova, but I've been washing my face, putting on my Hydroquinone, then using the Renova right after one another. Actually, I brush my teeth between the Hydroquinone and the Renova but that's only about 5 minutes! I'd be up all night if I waited 30 minutes between all the steps, but I want to do what's most effective.

Thanks, Zoey

Zoey,

The reason for waiting is because water makes Renova irritating to your skin. Your face needs to be completely dry before applying it or you will get redness, flakiness and general irritation. It explains this completely in the insert with the Renova, which is how I know.

You think your face is dry after you wash it, but it's not completely dry for at least 20 minutes. The reason for waiting to apply moisturizer over the Renova is because the Renova needs to sink in instead of being diluted with moisturizer.

So. I don't wait 20-30 minutes and I have no irritation -- can I keep doing what I'm doing?
