I finally got my generic Retin-a .05% cream!

If I've been using glycolics and retinols regularly for a while-- most recently Alpha Hydrox and Neutrogena Intensive Serum -- and I've never had a reaction except for initial tingling sensation occaaionally.

Should I start the prescription more frequently than every third night?

Robin,

I would seek the advice of your dermo. It might still be a trial and error process to know how frequently to use it. I tried Retin-A and Retin-A Micro years ago and my skin peeled for weeks and I finally had to stop. I was used to hydroxy acids, but the Rx retinol was hard on my sensitive skin. In retrospect, I wish I had experimented with frequency of use a little longer. You may have an easier time of it since you are used to OTC retinols.

Good luck!

Thanks Lydia. It looks like you have sensitive skin and I am DRPW -- So for other DRPWs, should I still use Retinoid every 3rd night even though I've been using retinol?

Hi Robin - I used retinoids prior to starting Renova. Eventhough you might think you skin is "toughened up" from that, the retin-a is way more effective/potent, in my opinion. I started exactly as Dr. B sets out in the book, every 3 nights. That was fine for a week, then I moved it up to every 2 nights for a couple weeks. Then on and on. It only took about 5 weeks for me to graduate to daily use. I use a small dab of serum mixed with it to help it spread easier. Good luck!
