Hi everyone,

What are your favorite foundations?

Which foundations do you hate and why?

Thanks for your help!

You know, I love Cover Girl's CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer. It's an amazing bargain. I don't know if its bad for my skin or not, but I've never had a bad reaction & I love the moisture! many other foundations are too matte and do not offer enough moisture.

I've tried Prescriptives Traceless (not enough moisture, too light all around), Linda Cantello Hint tinted moisture (drying), Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup (greasy), Revlon Skinlights (too shiny/greasy), Chanel Double Perfection Fluide (drying, too matte, shows flakies).

The only thing I love equal to CG Smoothers, is Clarins True Comfort Foundation. The consitency is nice, coverage a bit heavier than CG Smoothers, and a good level of moisture.

And those are just the ones currently in my drawer!

Hi Dr. Baumann and everyone:

I am new to this site and this is my first post! Nice to meet you! I actually posted this in the wrong skin type before and had to delete it, sorry for that!

I am a sucker for cosmetics in general and, more precisely, Asian brands. I am not Asian myself but found that the colours suit my skintone much better. I am pale, but with yellow to neutral undertones. A Brazilian of Portuguese and Spanish background and currently living in Ireland. I love the Asian brands not only because of the colour options, but also their textures (and packaging, must admit!).

My skin is a DSNT as per your book, but due to my rosacea and sensitivity I am also a DRNT (most of the time fortunately, at least for now - did not have any flare-ups in quite some time). A Jekyll & Hyde skin type, from what I understand! Before reading your book I was classified as "normal", by the way! ;D

My favourite at the moment must be Shiseido Proudia Contouring Compact Foundation in OC-10. It is a creamy compact, similar to Shiseido's The Makeup Hydro-Liquid, but with a bigger range of colours and nicer application. Looks natural and is very hydrating, with a smooth finish and a bit of a healthy glow. I never break out with that and my skin feels "protected".

I love Shu Uemura's Nobara too (my shade is 574). However I think it might be a bit tricky to apply, since it requires some preparation (it is a bit thick and very compact). If you go through the necessay steps, it will look and feel great though.

Bobbi Brown's Oil-Free compact in Sand is fab too. Both Bobbi's and Proudia's can double as a concealer, which is a plus, I think.

As for compact powdery foundations I like T. Leclerc's very much (in Banane, now Vanille. I think Banane has ben discontinued). The texture is like powder to cream, in fact, and I found out that the next day the skin looks very clear and luminous, like a treatment foundation (maybe I am imagining things, but that's my impression nonetheless).

I also have Shu Uemura's Velvet Perfect, which is really excellent and very silky, with an elegant finishing. Handy for those days when you are in a hurry.

Some that I don't like: the new Shiseido TM Lifting Foundation (too heavy and masky, and somewhat greasy), and Guerlain's Fleur de Teint (strong rose fragrance and way too light. My Mom loves it though, and uses it everyday - again her skin is a bit oily, maybe that's why?).

As you can see I like using different ones, depending on the finishing I want to achieve, or the time I have to "beautify" myself before going out! And I am always willing to try new products.

Thank you!
