Hi everyone, Now I am workign on a bother scale for dry skin. Some of you may have seen my questions i the oily skin types about the oily skin bother scale I developed. Now I am doing the same for dry skin.

What bothers you most about your dry facial skin? Pick one thing...tightness, itchy, roughness, texture? Please help me pinpoint the onemost disturbing feature. Thanks for your help!

Hi Dr Baumann

I have to say that for me, it was (aside from the sensitivity-related redness), roughness was most bothersome for me. Particularly because no foundation would really cover it well - in fact makeup really just seemed to make it all the more visible.

Hope this helps

my biggest problem was flaky skin.

much better the last two weeks (almost gone!) since using products that are right for my type...but the occasional flake is still around and always look horrible when I wear foundation.

Have you tried oil containing foundations?

I knew very little about make-up etc but was really bothered by my dry facial skin - tight, painful and red.  I was at the stage where I thought about using petroluem jelly all the time esp after outdoor activities.  I found no relief in the shower and applying moisturizer did little.  I found out from my local drugstore that soap is not a facial cleanser! Too bad I didn't read your book years ago.  After being given your book two weeks ago I am so proud of my skin now: the protective serum has reduced the redness so much so that I don't have to wear foundation if I don't want (the La roche serum is what I've tried so far).  Oh, and the dove and Aveena moisturizers have worked well too.

I am still looking for a good sunscreen.  I was in pain today after being outside.  It was hot today and with the sun and wind factor I felt like my face had been all scratched up.  I feel like my body is trying to cool down through my face. I'm kayaking all week next week - is there any hope for me?

Oh - does anyone else get rashes from the sun?  I also wonder how much is hormonal.  I think I remember reading somewhere that estrogen plays a role.
