Last month I started breaking out really badly. About the same time last year, I suffered from a really back breakout (acne) so I went to visit a dermatologist who put me on differin and clyndagel. they cleared my acne, although irritated my skin. However, last month, for some reason it stopped working.. My prescription is about to run out and I don't want to re-purchase for several reasons: 1) it really irritated my skin, 2) it stopped working, and 3) it's expensive!
I started using a new facewash by Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash in early January (probably the first week). I'm really interested in using natural products, as much as possible. However, I'm not sure if this is working, whether it has caused my acne, or whether I need to give it more time to really prove itself. I've been meaning to try moisturizing face washes, however, I'm kind of nervous to because my skin is currently acne-prone and I feel like I should get a face wash that addresses that. However, I do understand (as was in the STS book) that sometimes irritation and dryness causes the acne for DSPTs.
Is anyone an acne-prone DSPT who is willing to share their routine with me? Or anyone who can offer sound advice?
I've started experimenting a few times a week w/ DIY treatments (i.e. peroxide + baking soda, lemon juice, and jojoba + castor oils as a deep cleanser). However, I feel like they may just be irritating my skin. I'm not sure.
Since I finished my prescriptions, I'm trying to find light retinoid creams to use. I've gotten some DDF Retinol Moisturizer samples from Sephora, but so far it seems not to have made a difference (used it 3-4 nights).
Right now, my only staple is Cera Ve cream, which I use to moisturize both day and night. I'm thinking I may get the lotion, however, because I suspect the cream -- although it provides good moisturization -- may be clogging my pores!
As you can see, I've got a lot of things running through my head. Any and all suggestions would be helpful and MUCH appreciated -- especially dealing with facewashes.
