I recently started on Renova and am experiencing some redness, dryness and irritation. My question is: Can the Renova be mixed with a serum or a moisturizer? In one section of Dr. Baumann's book she recommended that it be applied over the night cream if you have sensitive skin. I wonder if the Renova will be as effective when not applied directly to the skin. My skin type (I think) is DSPW. Any suggestions?

I guess I could back off and use every few days til I adjust..I really feel any product mixed will dilute it..jmo

Hi Lynn -- Sounds like we have the same concerns. I really want the Renova to work (after all, it wasn't cheap)!! In a way, I think it would make sense to mix the Renova with a little serum, as I have always been told that serums make all products work better. I am new to this board and am not sure how things work. Does Dr. Baumannn reply to the questions or do we just share information? I tried using the Renova nightly and that was a big mistake. I am going to try to use it two or three times a week for a while and see how things go. My skin is dry and I definitely need to use a serum or moisturizer in conjunction with the Renova. I hope things work out for you and that your skin will adjust to the Renova. Hopefully, someone will come to our rescue with some advice. My doctor who prescribed it is impossible to reach, so I am on my own!

Ragdoll,

How much are you using? Did you get the instruction sheet with your prescription and/or did your doctor show you exactly how to use it? You only use a pea-sized amount--literally. You put it on your left pointer finger. Then with your right finger dab it into the pea-sized amount and put it in the middle of your forehead. Dab again and put it on your left cheek, dab again for right cheek, and dab one last time for your chin.

Next, pat the dabs into your skin. There will be enough. What's left over, put on your nose, a little under your eyes and on your hands. Don't think you need more because you don't. It will only cause irritation.

Mixing it with serum would dilute it and make it less effective. Rather than doing that, I would suggest just going to every other night for a while. Everyone is going to get some flakies in the beginning, though. That is normal and will stop unless you're using too much.

It's definitely worth it! This is the single most effective product available. (And that's not just my opinion!) :o)
