TOPIC: DRNW & DSNW

DRNW & DSNW 5 years, 10 months ago #468

Just bought the book and have been reading thru trying to decide what products to use.
I'm in my 20's, suffer from breakouts. My question is...
I did the survey twice and came up with 2 different types. DRNW & DSNW. Although I would classify my skin as sensitive.
Anyone else is this situation, who has had success as a DRNW or DSNW and clearing up occasional breakouts?

I initially tested out as a DSNW, moreso due to acne. Technically though, my skin can handle a lot so I often think of it as more "resistant". For example, I can use Proactiv, and do peels at the same time, and have no problem. And I initally was right on the border with my S/R score too, so I understand your question well.

I also am now a bit more toward O with summer here, but this is what has worked well for me thus far: (It's a combo of a few different routines for O, S, and R types)

am:
-cleanse with Eucerin Redness Relief Cleanser, or Glymed Plus glycolic cleanser, if I have any flakies
-mist with LRP water or the Avene water
-benzoyl peroxide to breakout prone areas only
-sunscreen ( I use the LRP Dermo Peds 50 or the Vichy Ultra Fluide)

pm:
-cleanse with DHC cleansing oil
- Retin-A on face and neck ( I'm using the .025% gel, and worked up to nightly usage the same way she recommended in the Extra Help for Dry Resistant skin chapters)
-moisturize on top with Aveeno Ultra Calming cream only if dry or Cetaphil Lotion (more hydrating)

My breakouts are essentially gone, and my clogs have been significantly reduced. The bummer is that I'll be trying for #3 soon and will have to go off my beloved Retin-A.

Anyway, hope that helps a bit!
Marcy - age 39
D in winter, O in summer
R but if I"m not careful I can become an S
P
W
occasional breakouts, but more hormonal in the jaw/upper neck area

Thanks. I think I'm leaning more towards being a DRNW. I'm just in the process of starting a regimen of some of the suggested products. My biggest concern is clearning up my acne/breakouts.

I've used proactiv in the past, liked the results for a short time, then it made my skin look dull. I recently tried the Murad acne kit, and was not at all please with results. I'm hoping Dr. Baumann can help.

Thanks.
