Success stories? 4 years, 1 month ago #3009

Hi there, I've been using the Skin Type Solution philosophy now for around a year and just thought it would be good if we could share products that have worked well and those that have caused problems. I am D 17 S 55 N 22 and T/W 40.5 - i have mild to moderate rosacea mainly affecting my nose and used to have acne for which I was treated with Roaccutane (hence the dry score now - I used to be oily 35)
Problem products first - DDF Sulphur mask was horrendous for me - burned terribly and face was red for days after just one 3 minute application.
Olay regenerist serum caused a lot of extra redness and sensitivity bumps.
Prescriptives redness relief gel - why is this on the list? It is a shocking shocking product!
Darphin Intral cleanser - so so product but sometimes stung.
Oil cleansing method - not officially in the book but some recent chat about this - I resorted to this when I was really bad last winter - this method really dried me out (I used jojoba, coconut and EVOO at different times but they all really dried me out to the point where my skin was cracking).
Products that have worked for me
Atopalm MLE cream - amazing product for rosacea although not moisturizing enough on it's own over this winter (very harsh Northen England weather at the moment) so layering it with L'occitane Ultra rich face cream at night (fantastic!)
L'occitane SPF 15 shea cream - only SPF 15 I've ever been able to use - lovely smooth base for make-up and no sensitivity - I've been very impressed with L'occitane - before the book I would have just thought it was a nice shop for shower gel and perfume for old ladies but it's skincare range particularly the shea is excellent.
Clarins Beauty Skin Repair Concentrate - technically listed as a recommended product for NSNT but as I'm borderline T/W (40.5) I tend to dip between the two chapters. I've just started using this and so far am impressed. It's definitely helping with my upper lip problem which has a tendency to chap terribly badly just under my nostrils right down to the top lip line - it looks awful! Have only used the Clarins for a couple of days and I was hesitant because it contains retinyl palmitate but fingers crossed!
Toner - yes toner! I know Dr Baumann doesn't like toners but I've done experiments with and without it in my regime and without it my skin gets really scaly and red and angry. I use a really cheap rose oil alcohol free one available in the UK not listed in the book - it's called Garnier Cleanse and Soft Toner and it seems to gently lift off any flakies now that exfoliation is a real no no. I also use the cleanser from the same range and would pay ten times the price for it as it's so good (it's around £4).
I'm not saying I have perfect skin by any means (I always have to wear foundation - everydayminerals original glo works for me) and am always looking to reduce redness - if any of you out there have any fabulous product recommendations for reducing redness then I'd love to hear from you.
DSNW with rosacea on nose and acne on chin - Update - now OSNW - the roaccutane stopped working!
