This is Dr. B's top choice, and if you can get past the cloying smell of roses, I can understand why. I knew this product had fragrance, which is why I didn't choose it from the beginning of my regimen 7 weeks ago. Today starts week #8! Ponds comes in an 8 oz. jar for roughly $8. The jar has an awkward shape -- deep, with tapering sides -- so I would be tempted to transfer this product to a clean regular jar if I had one. Ponds comes in 2 fragrances: regular and cucumber. There used to be a lemon scented one years ago, but CVS didn't have that one. Hubby and I stood there in the store, sniffing the fragrances, trying to decide which one to purchase. Both were kind of gaggy, but we thought the cucumber version smelled stronger. The clincher was the fact that the cucumber one contained waaay many more ingredients. I wanted as few ingredients as possible, so we bought the regular (the one shown on the B. store website). The cream has the consistency of whipped Crisco -- and this is a good thing with cold weather coming. I definitely want a heavier product for winter!
The cream spreads smoothly and it doesn't take much to get an even application. It felt soothing on the skin after my Kiehl's disaster. However, it's too soon to tell if I can fully tolerate this product. While my skin didn't sting after using it, I did feel a slow burning sensation for about a half hour.
But this calmed down and the face finally felt normal. I don't know if I was having residual effects from the Kiehl's, or what. I did have to use my PC Skin Recovery hydrating toner afterwards, to minimize that awful fragrance.
Don't get me wrong -- I love fragrance, just not on my face please! Anyway, stay tuned for further developments. I'll be using this again just to make sure. Inky
