Hi All,
In case you haven't tried the Shu U. Cleansing Oil yet, I thought I'd report my experience. I bought the enriched kind, meant for dry skin, and used it for the first time this morning. It comes in a pump bottle with a locking cap, which is nice. The oil smells like a tea bag -- no kidding! Not unpleasant, just different. The oil was easy to spread and massage into the skin. Do NOT forget to tissue the oil off your HANDS before you go fiddling with your faucets to rinse! At this point you are supposed to add a small amount of warm tapwater to the oil on your face to "emulsify" it. I don't understand the reason for this. Does emulsifying make it easier to rinse?
Anyway, the warm water massaged onto the skin turns the product into a white something or other -- not a foam, not a paste, just white stuff. You then splash rinse with LUKEwarm water and pat dry. Ok, did all that. No redness or stinging, but my face definitely felt DRY afterwards. In fact, I had to apply one of the Paula's Choice hydrating toners before my antioxidant serum this morning. I did not buy one of the Shu U. toners -- perhaps I should have, but the oil was pricey enough. My skin did not feel irritated, just dry. The problem with many of the Asian oils is that they do not have their ingredients listed. So many of them claim "soothing botanicals." It would be nice to know specifically which ones! I know that I'm allergic to the rosemary in DHC oil. I used a moisturizing sunscreen this morning too, to help counteract the dryness. So I guess the Shu U is not a BAD product. After all, I was able to tolerate it! <g> That's a major plus right there, ha ha. Just be aware that you may have to use extra moisture to counteract the drying effect. I hope others will post their experiences.
