Hi All,
Just thought I'd ask if anyone is keeping a skin care diary. I started one this evening, since I've been having so much trouble getting started with the regimen. I just list what I use each a.m. & p.m. and any adverse effects. I figure this will help me in product elimination.
One thing I HAVE noticed: When I spray the LRP Thermal Water onto a cotton pad and use it like a toner, I have no problems. When I spray it directly onto my face, starting at the neck and moving up, within a couple of minutes I get a strange, metallic-tasting, numb-y sensation on my lips and the tip of my tongue. No, I do not have my mouth open when I spray! Weird, huh?
This morning I tried using the Oilatum AD facial cleanser. This stuff is nice! It contains Triclosan, which is supposed to kill bacteria on the skin. I don't know that I would care to use it every day, but it would be nice on an alternating basis, perhaps. The texture is a plush lotion and can be removed without water. I towel it off gently, and then use the Thermal Water. My face stayed calm all day. Used moisturizer and sunscreen too, of course!

I've been keeping one - it helps me figure out which products are better, or worse, for me.

The other thing I've started to do is keep a pad near the computer to jot down any notes about products or regimes. I know that sometimes I remeember reading something but have trouble recalling where, esp if it's an off-shoot of a conversation.

OOOooooo, GOOD idea, Judy! I keep pen & paper near my recliner, but never thought about the computer. Too much comptuer clutter (speakers, printer, etc.) as it is. But I shall attend to that situation post haste! Thanks!

Judy,
I forget where I read your post, but you had mentioned that you felt like 2 different people -- oily some days, dry the next. That must be a real bummer! I would still treat the skin gently. Now, this is gonna' sound strange, but on oily days, you can use regular Milk of Magnesia in a thin layer as a spot treatment or in the T-zone. Use this under your sunscreen. Be sure to moisturize the dry areas before applying sunscreen too. The MOM will sop up the oil without irritating the skin. Hope this helps. Inky

Here's something I do: When I come across a thread with interesting information, I copy and paste several of the messages in the thread into a blank email and then send it to myself, putting the general topic in the subject line. Then I store these in a special email folder called skin care.

I ended up with this approach after trying to keep info in my head, forgetting half of it, and then finding myself at the whim of various search engines while trying to retrieve that one glorious tidbit.

It works really well for me and I've collected a great group of info that matches my own interests or needs.
