Hello,
I have been in surgical menopause since i was 34 (now 41) and have always had skin issues since. I am following the regime that you have in your book although I noticed that your am face moistureizer is different online then in the book. Is there anything special I should be using? a gentle retinol? lines, dry skin, sensitive (but not to all things), pigmented, my problems consisted of crepiness around eyes and neck some skin saging and lines more pronounced. (most of this has improved with the program). I feel silly going into a dermatologist. I also have contact dermatitis, face neck arms hands and feet. but this is usually controlled with hydrocortisone.

I thank you. Debby

Hi Debby- I got low-growth hormone problems thanks to a botched surgery, so I understand your concerns. I am finally getting a grip on my skin, but it will immediately turn to horrors if I differentiate from anything. I am using Eucerin redness relief cleanser and it is working well. I use the Aveena Soy daily 30 spf. moisturizer and that is working good. My night is trickier, I am trying Elizabeth Arden and I am not sure if it is working. I am trying the Elizabeth Arden plump perfect eye cream and I think it is giving me eye bumps. I was using Aveeno at night but didn't feel it really moisturizing. I tried Tri-luma and had an allergic reaction. Used Pigment of Your Imagination by Philosophy and my face looks horrible. I suddenly have wrinkles by my eyes I've never had!!!!!! I was trying metrocream and you CANNOT drink alcohal with it, not even a glass of wine because of interaction. I am renovating an old barn so its hard being around the dirt, it makes it worse too. Exercise and water help alot too.

Hi Debby!

I saw your post and realized I could have written it...it sounds so familiar! I was put into surgical menopause when I was 35 (I'm 38). My skin has gone haywire. I am very dry to the point of flaking(winter was awful), have a lot of fine lines, crepiness around my eyes, some skin tags (moles?) under my eyes, sun discoloration, clogged pores on nose and chin, and just plain "blah" looking. I have even noticed that my skin all over my body is very dry. I have also become much more sensitive and allergic. I moisturize my body constantly and drink a lot of water. My current facial regimen is: wash with La Roche Posay gentle cleanser, use a gel for rosacea symptoms such as metrogel, klaron, or clindamycin (so far the clindamycin is the least drying), use Philosophy Pigment of your imagination for age/sun spots, spray with mineral water, apply moisturizer with sunscreen (Elizabeth Arden Ceramide face and eye creams for daytime and Atopalm for nighttime.) I feel that the gentle cleanser is better, but I don't like shelling out the money for it and would like to find a less expensive alternative. The mineral water/moisturizer combo seems to be a really good thing. I am not certain that I like the Elizabeth Arden. It is also expensive and sometimes I feel like it doesn't really "sink in". I also haven't noticed any lessening of fine lines with use. The Atopalm feels good, but it seems like I have to use a lot in order to get enough moisture. By the way, I settled on this regimen because I was so tired of feeling flaky, red and sore that I picked all of the "Baumann's Choices" from the book/website. Please let me know what you are using and what you find to be particularly helpful. It is also very frustrating to be fighting dry flakes at the same time as trying to unclog pores. Moisturizing has helped with the clogged pores, but not completely.
